Building on its state and local tools, NCSD remains committed to amplifying and supporting advocacy and movement-building efforts at the state and local levels. Through enhanced communications, the sharing of promising practices, and fostering peer-to-peer exchanges, we aim to strengthen partnerships and provide technical assistance to advocates.

NCSD places a special emphasis on fostering connections between advocates, stakeholders (students, parents/caretakers, and educators), and policymakers—particularly in regions beyond the Northeastern United States—to ensure balanced representation and coverage of integration efforts across diverse geographies.

 

Key Priorities

• Expand the use of NCSD’s policy resources: Continuing to disseminate and update NCSD’s 2020 policy guide, which outlines strategies for integrating school diversity into district-level ESSA plans.

• Enhance model state school integration policies: Collaborating with state-level members to ensure the relevance and accessibility of model policies for advocates and policymakers.

• Support state and local policy efforts: Providing leadership and guidance to advance state and local integration initiatives, including engaging and empowering youth to lead local campaigns.

• Build critical partnerships: Establishing strong relationships with state and local integration advocates (community organizations, colleges/universities, and nonprofits) and fostering meaningful collaboration among members.
