A Letter from NCSD's Director
Dear Friend of NCSD,
Last week, we celebrated 15 years of the National Coalition on School Diversity (NCSD). It was a beautiful evening filled with community and connection, and somehow I managed to keep it together during my remarks of appreciation for my retiring boss, Phil Tegeler.
Over three different presidential administrations, NCSD has found ways to advance school integration and advocate for diverse, equitable educational opportunities. We’re proud to reflect on how far we’ve come, but even more determined to tackle the work that still lies ahead. As we look to the future, we’re calling on supporters like you to fuel our efforts to transform education across the country.
Since NCSD’s founding in 2009, we have grown from a coalition of nine civil rights organizations to a robust network of over 80 member organizations and individual members across research, practice, policy, law, and organizing. Together, we’ve advocated for school diversity at the local, state, and national levels, shaped research and policy, and led conversations with policymakers that continue to yield real—albeit incremental—progress toward equity in education.
