-
Organize regional convenings: Designed to strengthen connections and fortify integration efforts nationwide, with an expanded emphasis on regions beyond the Northeast and Washington, DC.
-
Support and participate in member-hosted events: Co-hosting and attending conferences and other gatherings organized by members, partners, and groups that are committed to advancing educational, racial, and social justice.
OUR MISSION & IMPACT
Advancing School Integration Since 2009
Founded in 2009, the National Coalition on School Diversity is a cross-sector network of 50+ national civil rights organizations, university-based research centers, and state and local coalitions working to expand support for school integration. NCSD supports its members in designing, enacting, implementing, and uplifting PK-12 public school integration policies and practices so we may build cross-race/cross-class relationships, share power and resources, and co-create new realities.
Connector
NCSD was founded to bridge connections among advocates, scholars, grassroots activists, and policymakers. By fostering these relationships, we aim to increase visibility, deepen discussions, and drive political and social change toward achieving equitable, integrated schools.
Priority Connecting Activities
-
Create working groups: Providing resources and facilitation for working groups aligned with NCSD members’ interests and needs, ensuring the development and dissemination of impactful work products.
-
Advance intersectional engagement: Developing bidirectional pathways for collaboration on critical intersectional issues, such as the reciprocal relationship between housing and schools policy, and the interconnections between school funding and segregation.
-
Consult on priority issues: Engaging with members and stakeholders to identify pressing topics and inform presentations at conferences and other gatherings.
Through its roles as convenor and connector of the school diversity field, NCSD empowers its network to collaborate effectively, share best practices, and advocate for meaningful, systemic change that advances integration and educational justice.
